Broken Focus

Some time ago, I wrote about broken focus and in this season it has come back to me as a reminder that I would like to share.

One day I put in my contacts and my left eye was irritating me. I could see, but I kept scratching the eye, putting in drops, blinking continuously, until I finally took the contact out. When I removed the contact I saw that it was actually ripped while being in my eye. Being a "contact newbie", I was amazed that even though it was torn I was able to see. Then God downloaded the term "broken focus" to me. He showed me I could see but I was spending too much time scratching, watering, pulling, rubbing and finagling with my eye. I was actually distracted while seeing.

Too often that is actually how we are living our lives with a broken focus. We are pulling for the approval or cooperation of people. We are being rubbed the wrong way by a situation or condition. We are waiting for a loved one to water our dreams with their support or encouragement. Broken focus.

God's promises are called yeah and amen because they are irrevocable. The time has come to not allow broken people, broken environments, broken words, broken promises or any other fractured situations to define you or impede your vision or momentum. Keep your eye on God. Ask Him to become larger in your vision and in your hearing. Even if you have to walk around like I did with one contact, it will keep you reliant on Him and on target to the promises He has guaranteed for your life. If not now, when?
